Lagos Records N918m Sales In Mushin Food Hub

 


The Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms Abisola Olusanya said that the State has  recorded N918 million sales within 40 market days of its premier food hub at the Mushin area.

Ms Abisola Olusanya, disclosed this at a news conference held at the Kaltho Baguda Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday, to enlighten residents on the initiatives introduced by the state government to ameliorate the current food crisis.

She stated that the state government recorded N918 million food transaction at the Mushin hub with the 339 vendors within  40 days of the market’s operation.

The Sparrow Online  recalled that in December 2023, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, inaugurated a newly constructed middle-level food agro-hub in Idi-Oro, Mushin.

The food hub was introduced to proffer a new way of food distribution in the state and strategic measures aimed at combating the high food prices currently burdening the state, as well as address post-harvest losses.

Olusanya, speaking further on the Mushin hub, said: 26,000kg of garri, over 18,318 kilos of poultry meats, over 180 kg of rice and over 55,000 crates of eggs have been sold, as well as many other food items.

Odusanya said the volume of transactions and scale of residents turn up at the hub, implies it is a form of subsidising food prices for Lagos residents.

She affirmed that the state government will continue the role in ensuring that food prices stabilises and is kept down, and will continue the operations of the hub.
